PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
